Annex Judo Academy is the Go-To Judo Club in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and one of Ontario's premier judo training facilities for men, women and children alike. Our Annual Kangeiku Camp

Annex Judo Academy is hosting our annual Kangeiku training camp.  This is a traditional Japanese mid-winter training camp help at our dojo.

We are running the camp from December 28 - 31 at 6:00 am to 8:00 am each day.

To all paid-up members of Judo Ontario, the cost is either $10.00 a day or $30.00 for all four days.

OUR CLASSES

At The Annex Judo Academy, adults and children, train at the same time, both together and separately,while on the same mat area.  This is conducive to families who may want to learn the Art of Judo together.  We welcome students of all ages, all skill and fitness levels as well as both recreational competitive judoka.
Our classes are 6:30- 8:00 on Thursday evenings and 11:00 - 1:00 on Sunday mornings.
All classes are run by National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) certified coaches and are all black belts.

A little bit about our instructors

DAVID MILLER 6th DAN



David Miller began his judo training in 1971 at the age of 10 in an after school judo program in Toronto, Ontario.
A year later he and his two brothers, Terry and Wayne, both black belts now, joined a private judo club to receive more intensive instruction.
David received his first degree black in 1980 under the instruction of Dr. Walter Van Helder.
David Miller trained from 1988 to 1997 at Tokai University in Japan (one of the top universities in the world for judo) under the instruction of the world famous Noboyuki Sato.
In 1997, David earned his Fifth Degree Black Belt from the Kodokan Judo institute in Japan and was the first Canadian recipient of the Kodokan Judo Award of Excellence.
Other achievements in judo include:

1985 US Open Bronze Medalist
1986 Canada Cup Silver Medalist
1989 Kodokan batsugun recipient (Award of excellence)
1991 Pacific Rim Bronze Medalist (Honolulu, Hawaii)
1991 Kano Cup - Canadian Team Member (Tokyo, Japan)
1992 to 1997 Corporate judo team member for Fuji & Tri Ocean (Tokyo, Japan)
1993 Kodokan Team member at foreigner's tournament (Osaka, Japan)
1995 Canadian Heavy Weight Champion
1995 IJF Senior World Championships Japan - Canadian Team Member
1997 All Japan Corporate Team Championships Top 8
1999 World Masters Championships Gold Medalist
2003 Pan-American Masters Championships Gold Medalist
2004 Pan-American Masters Championships Gold Medalist



JON ROBERTS 2nd DAN



Jon Roberts began his judo training in 1990 at the age of 10, at a Parks & Recreation program.
Jon loved it from the beginning, and after some victories at small competitions, decided to pursue the competitive side of judo.
In 2002, Jon won the Canadian Junior National Championships in the under 20 years old, -90 kg category.
Jon spent a year studying judo and Japanese martial culture at the International Budo University in Katsuura, Japan.
He enjoyed that year thoroughly, and in 2006 decided to put his academics aside to pursue an career as an international judo competitor, to live in Japan, training at Tokai University.

Jon is now living back in Toronto finishing up his masters degree in Japanese history
